Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Uruti Streams (urutistreams.com) handles information when you use our mobile app or this website. The product is a vertical short-drama service for viewers in Africa and a staff catalog desk on the web. Questions: [email protected].

What we collect

• Guest device accounts. If you open the app without signing in, we create an anonymous guest tied to that device so you can watch free episodes and keep progress. This is not a named profile until you choose to sign in.
• Signed-in accounts. Email and password (and the name or avatar you set) when you upgrade a guest or create an account. Sign-in is required to spend coins, pay, keep a streak, or gift.
• Watch and library data. Episode progress, completions, bookmarks, likes, comments, and ratings so Library and resume work.
• Wallet and purchases. Coin balance, ledger entries, unlocks, and payment intents (status, pack, method, phone when you pay with mobile money). We do not store full card numbers.
• Preferences. Region and language you pick, plus settings such as data-saver.
• This website. Staff sessions for people who sign in to publish catalog. Public visitors to the landing and legal pages do not need an account.

How we use it

We use this information to run the service: play episodes, remember where you left off, enforce coin unlocks and entitlements, credit confirmed payments, send optional notifications you allow (gifts, challenges, streak reminders), keep the catalog fair, and secure accounts (including bans).

Video and infrastructure

Episode video is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare Stream. Playback uses short-lived signed URLs after we check that the episode is ready and that you are allowed to watch it (free, already unlocked, or a valid pass). Cloudflare processes the delivery needed to show you that video. Covers and other files may be stored on our object storage.

Payments

Coin packs will be sold through a payment provider (mobile money and cards). That provider integration is not live yet. Until it is, a purchase can stay pending and coins are credited only after a confirmed provider webhook — not because the app guessed success. When a provider is connected, they will process the checkout details they need (for example a phone number for MoMo). We keep intent status and a provider reference, not your full card PAN.

Coins

Coins are in-app virtual currency used to unlock episodes and some items. They have no cash value and are not redeemable for money. A welcome balance may be granted once when a wallet is first created (guest or signed-in — one wallet).

Sharing

We share data with the processors we need to operate: Cloudflare (streaming), our hosting and email providers, and a payment provider when checkout is enabled. Staff admins can see catalog, wallet, and moderation tools to run the service. We do not sell your personal information.

Children

Uruti Streams is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum digital-consent age where you live). Some series are tagged 18+. We do not sell children's personal information and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children to sell, advertise against, or share for commercial profiling. If you believe a child has given us data, contact [email protected] and we will delete the account we can identify.

Retention and your choices

We keep account, wallet, and watch records while the account is active and as needed for abuse prevention and accounting. You can sign out, stop using a guest by removing the app (the device guest may remain until deleted), and contact support to request access, correction, or deletion where the law requires it.

This website

The public site is a landing page plus terms and this policy. Staff use email and password to reach the admin catalog. Viewers are not given a consumer web dashboard.

We will update this page when our practices change in a material way. The date at the top is the latest revision.
